Rugby Blitz
On Thursday 26th September, girls from second to sixth class participated in an Inter-Schools Blitz in Clonakilty Rugby Club. The girls got to enjoy tip rugby and tag rugby.
The girls played Kilmeen, Knockskeagh, Clogagh and Gaelscoil Cloch na Coillte.
The girls got to walk on the extended greenway so had a very active day overall!

Cycle Sense - March 2022
Our third class are participating in the Cycle Sense Programme. This programme is both practical and theoretical, focusing on how to keep safe on the road. Bicycle control skills are worked on in the school yard.
In the last two sessions, the girls will be taken on guided road journeys to experience and practise these skills.
This is a great learning opportunity for the girls and they are really enjoying it!

Support from our Parent's Association
Every year, our Parent's Association very kindly funds tennis lessons with Alan.
Each class from Juniors to Sixth get to participate in these fun, skill based sessions.
We are very lucky to have a great partnership with Clonakilty Sports Complex which is located right beside our school.

Clonakilty G.A.A. Partnership
We have a long and very successful partnership with Clonakilty G.A.A. club.
We have been given access to the state of the art grounds at Ahamilla for camogie and football training for many years now.
We are delighted to have Conan O'Donovan as our GAA coach in the school. Each class gets an opportunity to practise their football and camogie skills.

National Bike Week 2021
We had a very enjoyable celebration of National Bike Week on Friday 18th September 2021.
Our sixth class gathered in the church yard before school and cycled to school!
Thank you to our supportive parents who got bikes and helmets ready for the morning.
A huge thank you to Community Garda Liam Ryan who accompanied us.
Well done to Mrs. Scally, Múinteoir Orlaith and Múinteoir Marian who cycled on the morning also.

Splash and Dash!
23 girls in 5th and 6th class took part in the Annual Splash and Dash in Dunmanway on Monday 20th May.
This initiative is run by the Cork Sports Partnership.
The girls swam 50 metres and this was followed by a 400 metre run.

Water Safety Awareness Talk
On May 7th, members of the RNLI team in Courtmacsherry, kindly gave of their time to speak to the girls about the very important issue of being safe on and near the water.

Disability Awareness in Sport
In January 2019, third class got the opportunity to experience what it is like to play soccer when you are blind.
A huge thank you to parent, Nick Harrison who came in to coach this session. Nick works as a disability coach with the FAI.
The Walking Bus is back for 2018
The Walking Bus would not be possible without the organisation done by Mrs Daly! Thank you to all the parents who volunteer. Our partnership with our parents is a very important part of our school. We had 100 girls walking last Friday 19th, 2018 and the Golden Boot Award went to 4th class. Well done to everyone.

Active School Flag Slogan
A competition was run in school to decide on our Active School Flag Slogan. Pupils from 3rd-6th were asked to come up with a slogan.
The winner was Gabi Oramus in 3rd class with 'Go for a Walk and have a Talk, Go for a Run and have some Fun!'

Super Troopers Demo at Assembly
Super Troopers is an active homework intitative which is supported by Laya Helathcare. Each child has a Super Troopers booklet which has many varied and fun activities. It even has recipes to try and tips to become more mindful.
Parents are encourgaed to get involved in some fun activities at home also.
Senior Infants and Third Class do a demonstration of the activities for the upcoming month.
Cork City Sports 2018
Everyone had a great day last Friday when our school was represented at Cork City Sports. Thank you to Ms O' Mahony, Mrs. Crowley, Ms O' Connor and Ms Murphy who were instrumental in training the girls. Well done girls!
Clonakilty Parish Primary Athletics Day
What a fantastic day was had at the Clonakilty Road Runners Parish Athletics Day. The weather was amazing and the event was so well organised! A huge thank you to Aidan McCarthy (Knockskeagh NS) and the Clonakilty Road Runners for organising this event for schools in Clonakilty Parish!
An Taisce "Clean Coast"
Each year, third class take part in the 'Clean Coast' initiate which is run by An Taisce. The girls collect litter in the local area and are always surprised by how much they collect.

Splash & Dash
A total of 17 girls from 5th and 6th class took part in the annual 'Splash and Dash' in Dunmanway on Monday 14th May 2018.
This initiative is run by Cork Sports Partnership and Triathlon Ireland.
The girls swam 50m (2 lengths) and then ran 400m.
It was a non competitive competition.
The girls really enjoyed the experience.

The girls in St Joseph's have taken part in a skipping workshop.

Playball!
Pupils from Juniors to 2nd are given the opportunity to take part in Playball for a number of weeks each year. The girls benefit from expert coaching in the fundamental movement skills of throwing, catching, jumping, landing, balancing and striking.
