Bord Gais Energy Student Theatre Awards

In 2015 we had great success in the BGE Student Theatre Awards when our 6th class won the overall National prize for Best Musical Drama for their production of 'Annie Jnr'' with their class teacher, Ms. Ethel Loughnan. One of our pupils, Tola Ni Shuilleabhain, also won overall national prize for her Best Supporting Actress Role as Miss Hannigan.
We  entered the competition again this year, with Mrs. Scally's production of 'Alice, the Musical' from 4th class, and Ms. Loughnan's 'The Little Mermaid' from 6th class.
Both musicals were performed for parents in December, 2015 when we held class Christmas concerts to great acclaim.
This acclaim has now been echoed by the judges of the Bord Gais Energy Theatre Awards. From among thousands of entries nationwide, 4th class were selected to go through to the final group and were asked to perform on the Bord Gais Energy Theatre stage at the awards ceremony. This was a memorable experience for the girls and teachers alike. It was a super achievement to be nominated for "Best Overall Musical" in the Primary School category and thanks is due to the class teacher, Mrs. Darina Scally and Mrs. Eileen Nolan (Montfort Academy of the Performing Arts) who directed the girls.
Since Junior Infants, the girls have enjoyed drama with, at first, Mrs. Pam Golden, then with Mrs. Nolan from 2nd to 6th. Each year they just get better and better and are achieving national recognition for their talents.
